Volunteer!


Interested in volunteering? The work of Joshua’s Trust is carried out almost entirely by volunteers, everything from cutting trails to stuffing envelopes, leading walks and tours to writing grants. Whether you have just a few hours for a single project or can help on a regular basis, we welcome new volunteers. Here is a partial list of the jobs - we always need more staff!
  1. Monitoring conservation easements. Monitors assist with creating a baseline profile of the property, develop a relationship with the property owner, and visit at least once a year to ensure that the easement is not being violated.

  2. >Stewarding properties owned by the Trust. Each property is assigned one or more stewards who are responsible for overseeing its proper management.

  3. Developing and maintaining trails on Trust properties. This work is usually done by a team of volunteers.

  4. Staffing information booths at community events. All towns have seasonal events which are an opportunity for the Trust to hand out brochures, sell Walk Books, and raise awareness of the Trust.

  5. Leading walks on Trust properties.

  6. Guiding visitors to the Gurleyville Gristmill. (Sundays 1-5, May through October).

  7. Contributing refreshments for special events, such as property dedications.

  8. Helping with mailings. Work parties assemble to prepare the newsletter and other communications for bulk mailings.

  9. Inventorying natural resources on Trust properties.

  10. Marketing and public relations.

  11. Surveying and mapping.
